It was a balmy 40 degrees and foggy. The once snow covered path was now icy and slick and a bit treacherous. The air was still and the woods were quiet. A peaceful morning for a walk in the woods.

While in the Midwest this fall, I did quite a bit of scouting for fall color. The late summer had been dry, no rain in the entire month of August. The trees were showing stress and dropping their green leaves before turning color. Some leaves turned brown before falling. One Saturday I spent the day with my sister and brother-in-law, we found several shots for me when color arrived. It looked as if it would about another week or so before peak color. As luck would have it, when I returned the color had not appeared as expected. However, looking high in the trees I found a bit of orange hiding and I zoomed in to capture it. When processing this photo it reminded me of a tapestry.
