Cooler Days

I saw a photo on Facebook today that was a macro  image of frost by Varina Patel.  It reminded me of the photos I took last fall while in Iowa of frost that had not only never been shared, but never processed. This image was taken on one of my last days in Iowa last fall on the deck at my sister’s home.  Through my 105 mm macro lens, it was amazing to see the texture and shapes of the frost.

So on this scorcher of a summer Saturday, here is a little something to cool you off.  At least it is a scorcher here in Arizona!

Friday Floral – Claret Cup Cactus

The wildflowers and cactus blooms are long gone in the Sonoran Desert. This claret cup cactus image was made mid-morning a few months ago at the Desert Botanical Garden .  I used my gold reflector to bounce some warm light giving the cactus and blooms some pop.  Shooting macro allows me to shoot all day in any light when using a reflector and/or diffuser and sometimes both.
