Merry Christmas 2022

It’s Christmas Eve day, a busy day at most homes. Mine included. I made a couple special deliveries today, Christmas cookies that were part of a silent auction earlier this month. The benefit was for my great niece Mia, who is battling aplastic anemia. Below are the two trays of cookies that were auctioned. It’s been below zero temperatures with windchill at -38 the last couple of days. The wind has gusted up to 40+ miles per hour and blowing snow to almost white out conditions. The cookies were from the silent auction were to be delivered yesterday, but it wasn’t safe to be out on the roads. But today, it is still bitter cold, the wind has died down somewhat and the sun is shining! Both trays of cookies were safely delivered to their destinations.

Photography is one of my passions, but so is baking. So it only makes sense that I would photograph the food that I make. After making this image, I thought of all the Christmas themed photos I have made over the years. As I was browsing through my photos, so many memories came flooding back, mostly from the time I lived in Arizona. From photographing the light parade in downtown Phoenix, going to downtown Glendale to photograph Glendale Glitters, spending time at the Desert Botanical Gardens to photograph the poinsettias and paperwhites. Some of the photos were made into Christmas cards. I’ll post a gallery at the end of some of my Christmas themed photography.

Back to baking. For the 29 years I lived in Phoenix, each year I would bake approximately 40 dozen cookies, package them with big bows and then deliver. It was tradition. It was something I was known for doing. When we announced our move to Iowa, some asked if I could package and send cookies to Arizona. Something I have yet to try.

From my house to yours, Merry Christmas!
