It’s mid February and finally feels and looks like winter in SE Iowa. It was snowing when I came home from work a few days ago. Seeing the snow covering all my flowers was exciting and I knew to grab my camera and get outside. I don’t cut back any of my perennials until spring. It makes my planter beds much more interesting in winter. Not to mention natural birdseed and plenty of places for pollinators to hibernate. Last year the snow was too wet and heavy to make any photographs of my limelight hydrangeas covered in snow. As the temperature was quite cold, the snow was light and fluffy, perfect for photographing my hydrangeas.
