Friday night and into yesterday morning, it was the first snow of the season. And the first snow I have “lived” in since the winter of 1985/86. It was a wet snow that sticks to the tree limbs and due to the wind it also sticks to the sides of the trees.
I was excited to get out and shoot the gorgeous winter wonderland, however, there was a funeral to attend. Knowing that there would be beautiful snow-covered trees at the church, my compact camera went with me. Below is a gallery of images made at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church along with a few photos from yesterday afternoon at East Lake Park. The weather forecast is for it to start snowing late tonight and ending tomorrow morning. There have been different predictions of maybe 2 inches of slushy snow to as much as 5 inches of snow. So this morning Molly and I took a walk along the local walking path in Mt Pleasant, Iowa, with my compact Nikon Coolpix P7000 in tow. Such a fun camera to carry along as it has many functions including shooting in RAW.
