This image is included in the gallery over on the Arizona Highways Magazine blog for this week’s Friday Fotos: Sedona. There are 99 images in the gallery this week! I was hesitant to submit this photo, glad I did!
This image was along the West Fork Trail which has been consumed by the Slide Fire this week. Over 7500 acres have burned with the fire only 5% contained. Approximately 1,000 firefighters are battling this fire.
Glad you shared this masterpiece….so calming.

Thank you Bob! Unfortunately, from the fire reports, this will probably never be seen again in my lifetime. Many are hoping the reports are worse than the actual damage.
Is that near “Slide Rock?” I remember vacationing in the Oak Creek area some 50 or 60 years ago, sheesh, am I THAT old?
Yes, the fire is just a few miles north of Slide Rock. 7500 acres have burnd, West Fork is a complete loss.

Oh, how awful. That was so wild and scenic there.
