Photographing wildflowers on a windy day requires lots of patience if you are wanting a tack sharp image. However, the wind is your friend on such a day. For this week’s Friday Floral, I chose an impressionistic image of Desert Globemallow, a wildflower in the desert southwest. By allowing the flowers to move and using a very shallow depth of field, I was able to make this image. As you can see, my shutter speed was very fast, 1/800 sec! That is how very windy it was on this day, but nonetheless, I kept shooting. So a trying as it may be shooting on a windy day, let your creativity run wild using the wind as your friend!
